Roasted Chile, Green Apple Appetizer


I didn’t know what to name this one. If you have a better title, let me know. But this appetizer was made in a haste when something had to be thrown together for a quick bite. Limited ingredients, all from my pantry… and BAM!

4 green apples
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1, 4 ounce can fire roasted green chilies
6 ounces cream cheese
4 slices swiss cheese
1 pie crust
1 pinch of salt


Turn your oven onto 375 and get out your pie dish. Roll out the pie crust and place in the dish. Don’t cut off the excess edges.

Place the butter in a sauce pan. Melt. Throw in the diced apples and begin to cook down.


Once the apples begin to get tender, add the can of green chiles. Mix altogether. Next, throw in the cream cheese.


Place the apple mixture in the pie crust you have set in your baking dish.


Top with the Swiss cheese.


Fold over the sides on top of the dish.

Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Serve in slices. The dish is pretty rich, and I think would go very well served next time on a bed of greens, like arugula. Imagine mashing it all together, bite for bite.
